Republican leader won’t say if Liz Cheney will face more punishment than Marjorie Taylor Green

House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) on Tuesday refused to say whether Republicans are more likely to punish Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) or Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) by stripping them of committee assignments or other leadership positions.

During an interview on Fox News, host Dana Perino pointed out that both women are facing criticism for different reasons. Greene has a history of repeating outrageous conspiracy theories and embracing violent rhetoric, while Cheney angered Republicans by voting for the impeachment of former President Donald Trump.

“Clearly, we’ve got some internal issues to deal with but we’re going to do that as colleagues,” Scalise insisted.

“In your opinion, which of those two members will still be in their committee or leadership positions by the end of next week?” Perino wondered.

But Scalise dodged the question.

“I know the media loves talking about the palace intrigue,” the Republican remarked. “But at the end of the day, we’re going to work through that internally. We’re going to resolve these internal battles and divisions. You know, you don’t hear them asking Speaker Pelosi every day about the things that are said by her own colleagues, anti-semitic things, violence that’s being incited by some of her members.”

“We’re not going to cover this up,” he added. “We’re going to discuss it eye-to-eye, member-to-member. That’s how we’re going to battle socialism.”
