PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Two Philadelphia men are charged with burglarizing 10 churches in Philadelphia, Montgomery, and Bucks counties.
The break-ins happened between late February and mid-March in Upper and Lower Moreland, Cheltenham, Upper and Lower Southampton, Abington, and Philadelphia.
Investigators say 21-year-old Gabriel Minnick and 20-year-old Semaj Howard were identified in part by their clothing. They say Howard has a heart-shaped tattoo under his eye that is seen in video.
The criminal complaint says the two would break in through a ground-level window. Items they’re accused of stealing include electronics, hundreds of dollars from a donation box for the poor, three bottles of wine, safes, and silver communion trays.
The pair are also accused of causing thousands of dollars worth of damage to the churches during the break-ins.
Minnick and Howard are facing charges including burglary, criminal trespass, and receiving stolen property.
