PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Two more Philadelphia schools have temporarily closed due to concerns of asbestos exposure.
Clara Barton Elementary School in Feltonville and James J. Sullivan Elementary in Wissinoming will be closed Thursday and Friday after damaged asbestos was discovered during inspections.
The School District of Philadelphia said additional testing is underway to ensure the schools are safe for students and staff.
Staff from Barton are asked to report to Feltonville Intermediate School, and staff from Sullivan will report to Frankford High School. Grab-and-go breakfast and lunches are available for both school communities. Barton students can pick up food at Feltonville Intermediate, and Sullivan students at Warren G Harding Middle School.
In all, now nine schools, including Sullivan and Barton, have had to close this school year due to asbestos.
