PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Two companies in Philadelphia have joined forces for a second year to help United States veterans find success in their careers.
The two companies, WeWork and Bunker Labs, started the program known as Veterans in Residence.
“It’s a six month cohort where ten companies that Bunker Labs selects gets six months of free office space, mentorship and resources for the program,” said Adam Nelson with Bunker Labs.
He says the businesses they chose are all owned by either a United States military veteran or a veteran’s spouse.
We asked Nelson, who by the way is also an army veteran, if he had a success story from last year’s program to share with us.
He told us about a veteran named Nick Franz who was having little to no luck after starting a t-shirt company.
“He (Franz) had basically no orders, he was struggling paying his mortgage and feeding his family,” Nelson explained. “He went through the program and six months later he had so many orders he couldn’t keep up. He was making tons of money, he was able to move into a new space, hire employees and now he’s crazy successful.”
