22 college grads sworn into new College Possible roles

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — With 100 hours of training in the books, 22 recent college graduates were sworn into their new roles with College Possible on Wednesday, ready to pay it forward and help the next generation of students navigate the sometimes difficult admissions process.

“It was really intensive, and I learned a lot about myself,” said 23-year-old Carolina Montes, who is the first from her family to graduate college. She’s determined to use her knowledge and experience to make that process easier for others.

“I want to give back to the community. I want to show other people from first-generation, low-income backgrounds that college is possible, and you can go to college and get a bachelor’s degree,” she added.

“Today is a celebration of what these coaches have been able to accomplish, and we’re excited to launch them into their direct service roles,” explained College Possible executive director Jen Weikert.

The coaches will be placed at schools throughout Philadelphia and Delaware County.
