Feds demand Oath Keeper be denied bail after ‘hiding guns’ and claiming Capitol riot was set up by cops

On Wednesday, federal prosecutors urged for a judge to deny pretrial release to Jason Dolan, one of four members of the far-right Oath Keepers paramilitary group who were arrested last week and charged with insurrection conspiracy in connection with the assault on the U.S. Capitol on January 6.

The reason, prosecutors noted, is that Dolan hid his guns from federal authorities — and has espoused a conspiracy theory that Capitol Police were knowing and complicit in the attack.

“First, he appears to have learned from [fellow Oath Keeper Kenneth] Harrelson’s arrest two months prior, because he cleaned his house of weapons and Oath Keepers clothing,” said prosecutors in a brief to the court. “Second, Defendant Dolan is still espousing a troubling conspiracy-theory belief that the Capitol Police wanted the rioters to come inside the building and disengaged the “magnetic locks” that would allow the doors to open — illustrating a lack of remorse and danger from Defendant Dolan.”

Previous reporting indicated that Dolan and his co-conspirators from Florida and Alabama wanted “Antifa” counterprotesters to attack the riot, so that former President Donald Trump could declare martial law.
