Big plans in store for former Nabisco plant in Northeast Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — An ambitious plan is moving along to redevelop the site of the old Nabisco plant in Northeast Philadelphia, and a central element of that plan includes the wildly popular Topgolf.

Provco Group and a Baltimore real estate firm bought the property a few years ago for $10 million, and Provco has already built a Wawa on the 27-acre property.

Vice President Michael Cooley says they’re hoping to have Topgolf – and all the fun that comes with it – up and running by sometime in 2020.

“It’s a three-level building, about 65,000 square feet. Full sit-down restaurants, mini-golf. They have pingpong tables set up, they have cornhole, entertainment areas like bars. They have event space for corporate functions and birthday parties,” Cooley said.

The developer also plans to build around Topgolf.

“We have a lot of restaurants interested in it. Lot of neighborhood-type retail concepts interested in it,” he said.

Cooley says they’re looking to break ground by August or September 2020.
