FALLS TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) — A Bucks County man was arrested in Florida on Wednesday for the murder of a 22-month-old boy inside a Falls Township apartment in December. The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office said 45-year-old Shawn Felmey was taken into custody in Melbourne, Florida.
Felmey has been charged with criminal homicide and endangering the welfare of children.
The DA’s office says Felmey either thrown or swung the young boy onto the floor of the basement inside a Commons at Fallsington apartment on Dec. 18.
Police say Felmey was the only person to enter the basement room after the boy had been left in his pack-and-play to fall asleep with his 7-year-old sister. Family members also told authorities the boy had unexplained bruises on his head in the months prior to his death.
Police say more than one witness also saw Felmey handling the boy in a rough manner, including shaking him.
A criminal complaint states that Felmey lied about his actions the morning of the toddler’s death, and that his story changed over time.
