Man shot in both legs on Market-Frankford Line, police say

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia and SEPTA police are searching for a suspect who they say shot a young father on the platform of the Market-Frankford Line Monday afternoon.

Police cars swarmed around City Hall just before 3:30 p.m., responding to a report of a 19-year-old man who was shot in both legs.

Police cars swarmed around City Hall just before 3:30 p.m., responding to a report of a 19-year-old man who was shot in both legs.

Officers say he was shot in both legs on the platform of the 15th Street Station. 

The man’s girlfriend, who was holding their infant child, told KYW Newsradio that she was getting off the train with him when all of a sudden, she heard two pops.

She then noticed that her boyfriend had been shot.

 She said people on the platform panicked and ran. They exited the station at City Hall and called police.

The man, who was visibly alert, was quickly transported into an ambulance and taken to Jefferson University Hospital.

Police are searching for a man they believe is the suspect, who was last seen wearing a navy T-shirt and jeans. Authorities say the suspect possibly knew the victim.
