Man who allegedly attacked jogger in Fairmount is in custody

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police say a jogger was randomly attacked Tuesday in the city’s Fairmount neighborhood, and they believe they may have the man who did it in custody.

The incident happened just before 6 p.m. Police say the woman was running along Wallace Street, near 22nd Street, towards the Art Museum, when she saw a man picking through trash.

As she tried to swerve around him, he punched her across the face they say. She fell, hurt her shoulder and they say he then kicked the woman in the face.

The victim was taken to the hospital, shaken, but OK.

Investigators are now questioning the man they believe is responsible for the attack, but charges have not yet been filed.
