PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Museum of the American Revolution invites the public to pay tribute, virtually, to the men and women who lost their lives in service to our country on Memorial Day weekend.
The museum will host history presentations, virtual field trips and tours and more next weekend. The programming will be available online and on social media.
Tyler Putman, manager of gallery interpretation, said one thing you can do is take a digital walking tour of the Tomb of the Unknown Revolutionary War Soldier at Independence National Historical Park.
Putman explained the monument “was created in the 1950s to commemorate one of the thousands of soldiers who is actually buried under the grass of that park. It was a burying ground for soldiers and slave people, free people of color, poor people of the 18th century.”
