PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Hundreds took to the streets in Center City to protest the Trump administration’s immigration policy.
The protests have been growing in size and frequency in advance of Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids planned for Sunday.
Friday was the third demonstration in eight days for organizer Katia Perez.
Reporter: “You guys have been having a lot of actions lately.”
“Well, we’ve been under attack by the Trump administration a lot lately,” Perez said. “We are being loud; we are fighting back because our communities are in danger. Today is actually part of a larger day of action, Lights for Liberty, so there’s actions like this going on cities all over the country.”
Philadelphia is not one of the ten cities targeted in the ICE raids expected Sunday but turnout was swollen by Netroots Nation, a convention for progressive activists being held here.
That’s what Phil Dague says brought out him out.
“We all have to stand together. As you can see, I know this is radio but I am a white male but I do believe that on this earth, we all are equal and we have to stand together and help those who need it, when they need it.
