PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — You’ve heard of pregame warmups in sports. Some people like to pregame with a few drinks before a night out. But a Thanksgiving dinner pregame?
Well, if you’re looking for a feast ahead of time, there will be one at the Crystal Tea Room on November 20, called Taste of Philly.
“Taste of Philly is a reflection of Philadelphia itself,” said event organizer Ray Sheehan. “It’s a wide diversity of flavors, textures, sights and sounds and all that under one roof.”
Sheehan said dozens of restaurants from the area will be serving samples, but the event is about so much more than a hearty meal.
“The best part about Taste of Philly is our ability to give back to the community, so we partnered with a bunch of different charity organizations,” Sheehan shared. “This year it’s the Trauma Survivors Foundation, so anyone that’s dealt with any sort of trauma, this is how they really help people.”
He said this event is a good way to preapre you for Thanksgiving, both the eating part and the giving back part.
“Look at this as kind of the appetizer to that major Thanksgiving event, but like Thanksgiving, think about your own Thanksgiving where you have all these different items on the table,” explained Sheehan. “Taste of Philly is exactly like that. It’s a great event for a great cause.”
Taste of Philly has drinks and music as well. Don’t worry, there’s plenty of time to digest between the Nov. 20 event and Thanksgiving on Nov. 28.
