Volunteers needed for cleanup of Darby Creek near Heinz National Wildlife Refuge

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Volunteers are needed to help clean up Darby Creek near the Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum later this month.

All ages are welcome to pick up trash in and around the Darby Creek portion of the John Heinz National Wildlife Refugee on April 23, near Philadelphia International Airport.

“We’ll provide all of the equipment and gloves and trash bags for you,” said Mariana Bergerson, Deputy Refuge Manager. “Just come prepared to have fun, get a little dirty and help clean up the refuge.”

The cleanup is from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers are being asked to meet in the parking lot at the refuge’s visitor center on the east side of Route 420.

All volunteers get a free lunch.
