Three killed in shooting at Louisiana gun store — customer says ‘everybody’s strapped in there’

Three people were killed and two wounded during a Saturday shooting in Louisiana.

Capt. Jason Rivarde, a Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman, briefed the press as was reported by NOLA.com.

“It appears a suspect shot two victims inside the location, then was engaged and shot outside the location by multiple other individuals,” said Rivarde. “The suspect is one of the deceased on scene.”

“Two shields, typically used to block the view of bodies, were set up in the parking lot. A person’s motionless hand was visible at the edge, and a pistol with an extended magazine lay nearby on the ground,” NOLA reported.

“A customer who was inside the building at the time of the shooting, and two people who arrived later and identified themselves as relatives of the victims, said the shooting started when two adult brothers arrived at the business. Something happened near the front door, attracting other patrons. One brother was shot dead, the other was taken away in an ambulance and other people were wounded, said these people, who refused to give their names,” NOLA.com reported. “The customer, who had been upstairs in a concealed-carry class, questioned the wisdom of starting a gunfight at a gun store. ‘Everybody’s strapped in there,’ he said.”
